Andre teaches forehands

The University of Tennis Junior Program, which starts June 24, is for kids ages 5-16. Sessions run Monday through Friday from 9am – 4pm (full day) or 9am – 12pm (half day). Each day, kids participate in drills that improve their tennis strokes, develop good footwork, and teach smart game play strategy. Kids also get the chance to engage in healthy competition throughout the program, with most sessions culminating in an inter-club tournament on Friday.

The High Performance Summer Program is for select elite high school and USTA nationally-ranked players. The program runs Monday through Friday from 12:30 to 4pm. The main focus of the High Performance program is competition, with an emphasis on mental toughness, shot selection, strategy, fitness, training routines, and practice.

Swimming lessons run from July 25 – August 1. We have classes for kids of all ages and abilities starting at the pre-school level. Classes are 30 minutes in length and meet Monday-Thursday for 2 weeks.

Please also note that the tennis-only membership does not include using the fitness equipment. If a tennis-only member wishes to use the cardio or Cybex machines, they may do so for a $5.30 charge per day or consider adding fitness to their contract. Please be considerate of those tennis members who do pay the extra charge.

Jared and Bobby teach backhands to kids at Kids’ Play Day.

Pros George, Andre, Jared and Bobby provided instruction on technique while engaging the kids in fun drills.

Tricia Morales brought her son Xeriah, who had never played before. “The instructors were fun and full of energy,” she said. “My son learned a lot, and I think that is a credit to the instructors.”

After a snack break, the music came on, and the kids showed off their new skills. They played games against each other, hitting the ball back and forth across the net.

“This was a great way to spend a Saturday,” said Miranda Cahill, whose children Annalyn and Shea took part. “They don’t get a chance to play a lot of tennis, so this has been a good opportunity.”

Kids’ Play Day was a fun-filled event where kids spent an afternoon exercising, making new friends, and taking on new challenges. According to Andre, “All the parents and kids were very enthusiastic, and we can’t wait to do it again.”
